International volunteer camp “Danube Soul 2020” – PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT

International volunteer camp “Danube Soul 2020” – PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT

Our first project is approaching ! When we made a decision on the topic and scope at the beginning of 2020, we decided that it would be something in which our team has previous positive experience. The participation of our members in the International Volunteer Camps organized by the Young Researchers of Serbia is happening for the first time in 2008 in Germany. To date, our trio has volunteered on these and similar projects in Serbia and Europe, on over 30 occasions. What would our people say, “our 5 minutes have come” 😀 ! 2020, completely “crazy”, we did not give up! The first such camp in the world took place exactly 100 years ago. It was held with strong motives for people to gather voluntarily and really do something! Thus, our first project in Eastern Serbia along the Danube will happen !

In the period from July 7 to 21, 2020 in Negotin, on the territory of the village Dušanovac, on the banks of the Danube River at the resort Kusjak, the organization Familia Nature will organize the International Volunteer Camp “Danube Soul 2020” in cooperation with Young Researchers of Serbia and the local population.  . The topic of the project is the arrangement and putting into the tourist function of public facilities and tourist infrastructure , as well as the joint promotion of the potential of Eastern Serbia and the Lower Danube region as domestic, regional and European eco-tourist destinations.

Considering that the Danube is considered the “European Amazon” . That the Lower Danube naturally “leans” on it and that the cultural and historical features that this region bears, you will not find in such a small geographical area anywhere in Europe. The region has a huge tourist potential and is recognized as one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Serbia. Also, at the Kusjak picnic area, the EU cycling routes Euro Velo 6 and Evro Velo 13 (Iron Curtain Trail) were crossed., which from year to year in this area attract more and more active tourists in search of content. Accordingly, volunteers from all over the world, together with the local population, will arrange the banks of the Danube, bicycle and pedestrian paths, set up signposts and info boards. In addition, volunteers will have the opportunity to get acquainted with local customs, cultural and historical sights, natural resources and other content that Eastern Serbia as a tourist destination during organized day trips and workshops.
